About - Cliff Van Maverick
If Flying Eagle Productions had a pit crew, Cliff would be the one leaping over the wall with a wrench in his teeth. Equal parts gaffer, grip, production assistant, and van-whisperer, he keeps the lights bright, the cables coiled, and the Beta SP decks humming like they just rolled off the factory line.
Cliff met Skye in high school when she moved in across the street. They quickly became close. She brought the vision; he brought the milk-crate full of adapters, spare fuses, and a label maker that never runs out of tape. On shoot days, he’s the first to arrive and the last to leave; usually after re-soldering something the rest of the crew assumed was finished for the day.
When he’s not crawling under a lighting stand or tuning the dolly wheels, Cliff writes riffs and dreams of a tour bus that smells like fresh gaffer’s tape and coffee. Until then, the FEP production van is his stage, and its glovebox is suspiciously well-stocked with allen keys.
Favorite camera: Sony DXC-3000 (paired with a rock-solid PVW-2800 Beta SP deck)
Favorite effect: Hard-light kick with a tiny barn-door flare
Fun fact: Once fixed a flickering key light with a guitar pick and a prayer—shot made air.
